Wauconda Police and Emergency Management Agency are Village of Wauconda Departments. Fire and Emergency Medical services are contracted from the Wauconda Fire Department. All three agencies are dispatched from the Wauconda Police Department 911 Public Safety Answering Point at the Police Department.

Marine Unit

The Wauconda Police Department has a Marine Unit on Bangs Lake. The Marine Officers perform required safety inspections on all boats and assist boaters as needed. Safety inspection stickers are purchased from the Marine Unit at time of inspection on the lake. Sticker fees and Village boating and fishing regulations are posted on the Wauconda Police Department web site, www.waucondapolice.com.

Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is the latest name of a string that began with the Civil Defense. Then was know as the Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA) and now, EMA. The Village of Wauconda followed the renaming conventions that were adopted at the state and federal levels.

The Local EMA's main focus is monitoring and tracking severe weather as it approaches the Wauconda Area. One of the most active volunteer services, EMA personnel also assist police and fire personnel in many civic activities.
