WHAT REQUIRES A PERMIT?

While most residents and business property owners are aware of the need for a building permit for any and all new construction there are a few that may not necessarily realize that a building permit is also necessary for other projects, such as the installation or repair of the following:

  • Fences

  • Patios & Decks

  • Sheds

  • Gazebos, Screen Rooms, Porches

  • Additions, Garages

  • Swimming Pools / Hot Tubs

  • Signs

  • Tree Removal

  • Alterations/Repairs including but not limited to:
    Siding, Fascia, Gutters& Downspouts, Windows & Roofing

Please contact the Building and Zoning Department to determine if your project requires a permit.


PERMIT REQUIREMENTS FOR
MINOR CONSTRUCTION / ALTERATIONS/ REPAIR

  1. Completed Building permit application.

  2. Submit a current Plat of Survey showing the location of the project, indicating the distance from the lot lines.

  3. For decks, porches or gazebos a detailed drawing is required with a materials list. If the height is 8’ or higher from ground level structural stamped drawings are required.

  4. Screens Rooms or additions require to have a full or trench foundation


PERMIT REQUIREMENTS FOR
NEW CONSTRUCTION/ADDITION / ALTERATIONS:

  1. Completed Building permit application

  2. Completed Public Works application (if applicable)

  3. Current Plat of Survey showing the location of the building, with dimensions

  4. Grading/ Storm Water Management Plan (w/adjoining lots)

  5. Soil Report

  6. Architecturally Stamped Plan
    2 - for Residential
    3 - for Industrial / Commercial

  7. Plumbers / Roofers are required to have a State Contractors Licenses.

  • International Property Maintenance Code
